- 1912 L. Lilienfeldt (Dt. Patent No. 477154); etherification of cellulose with dimethyl sulfate 1925 O. Ernst, K. Sponsel (Dt. Patent No. 522575); etherification of cellulose with methyl chloride (Hoechst)
- 1927 Technical production of methyl cellulose (MC) in a pilot plant (Hoechst)
- 1928 Tylose® is the new registered trademark for cellulose ether
- 1935 Commissioning of the first production plant for methyl cellulose (MC, MHEC) at Kalle in Wiesbaden (Glutolin®, Tylose® MH grades)
- 1937 Commissioning of the production plant for carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) at Kalle (Tylose® C grades)
- 1964 Commissioning of the production plant for hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) at Kalle (Tylose® H grades)
- 1972 Installation of the continuously working production plant for MC – the first and only plant of this kind world-wide
- 1978 Construction of the second continuously working production plant for MC
- 1985 Renovation and modernization of the first MC production plant
- 1996 Commissioning of the further production plant for MC
- 1997 Business acquired by the Clariant AG, Muttenz, Schweiz
- 1999 Start of a new production plant for HEC (Tylose® H and HS grades) under reduplication of the HEC capacity
- 2004 Business acquired by the Shin-Etsu corporation, Tokyo (Japan), and our new company name: SE Tylose GmbH & Co. KG
- 2006 Commissioning of a new production plant with a capacity of 10,000 t/year for methyl cellulose (MHPC, MHEC)
